Chapter 1
Welcome, Mayor.
Your city starts quiet and dark. Your job is to fill it with people — and the only way anyone moves in is when you get something done.
A private to-do app for Mac
Todo City turns any text into a dated task — an email, a message, a web page — with an AI that runs entirely on your Mac. Then every task becomes a home in your own city, and every one you finish switches on a light.

The story
Most to-do apps forget everything you finish. Todo City builds a city out of it.
Chapter 1
Your city starts quiet and dark. Your job is to fill it with people — and the only way anyone moves in is when you get something done.
Chapter 2
Start a project and an apartment building goes up. Its sections are floors you name — “1st Floor: Travel”, “2nd Floor: Program” — and tasks on no floor live on the ground floor.
Chapter 3
A new task is an empty home with a dark window. Finish it, someone moves in, and the lights come on — and they stay on for good.
Chapter 4
Paint the walls, fix the boiler, hand over the keys. Tick sub-tasks off and the window glows behind the curtains. An amber window blinking? Something's overdue — someone's waiting at the door.
Chapter 5
Tasks that belong to no project are little houses at the edge of town, their porch lights on once they're done. Today's timed tasks go up on the rooftop “Moving in today” billboard.
Chapter 6
Trucks circle buildings still going up. A rooftop light switches on when every home is lived in. Luxury cars come to your tallest tower. Look over the skyline at night: every lit window is something you finished.
Try it
This is a real city — turn it, zoom in, hover any window. Then start a project of your own and watch it rise on the edge of town.

This is a demo on this page; the app keeps your real tasks privately on your Mac.
Everything else
Copy any text and press ⌘C once more. The task, its date and time are filled in before you've looked up.
“by Friday 3pm” becomes a deadline, “every Sunday” a repeat. When a phrase is vague, Todo City asks instead of guessing.
Your list beside the day's hours and a month calendar. Drag a task onto an hour to time it, or onto a date to move it.
Anything whose day, time or deadline has passed gathers in one list — not a banner on every screen.
A small language model runs on your own computer. No account, no cloud, no tracking — and it works offline.
Pick an accent color, a 12- or 24-hour clock, the first day of your week, compact rows, and your city's sky.
Privacy
The model that reads your text runs locally. Your messages, emails and pages are never uploaded.
There's nothing to sign up for. Your tasks live in one file on your Mac, with daily backups.
Every line is public on GitHub. Read it, build it yourself, or check what it does.
Questions
Yes. Todo City is free for personal, non-commercial use under the PolyForm Noncommercial license, and its source code is on GitHub for anyone to read.
No. The AI that reads your text is a small language model that runs on your own Mac, and your tasks are stored in a file on it. There's no account and no tracking. The internet is used only for the one-time model download, checking for updates (you can turn that off), and sync between your Macs if you turn it on.
Select or copy any text — an email, a Slack message, a web page — and press ⌘C once more. Todo City fills in the task, its day and its time; phrases like “by Friday 3pm” become a deadline and “every Sunday” a repeat.
Any Mac with macOS 11 Big Sur or later, Apple silicon or Intel. The first time you open it, Todo City downloads its AI model (about 2 GB) once.
Yes. Pair them with a code and six matching digits, and your tasks stay the same on both — no iCloud or account needed. Changes are end-to-end encrypted on your Mac before they leave, so the relay that passes them along can't read them. You can keep any project on one Mac only.
Yes. In Preferences → Data transfer, Todo City brings in your projects, headings or sections, tasks, checklists, dates, repeats and finished tasks. Things and Todoist aren't changed.
Every project is a building, its sections are floors, and every task is a home. When you finish a task, someone moves in and the lights come on — so over time your city shows everything you've done.
Free for Mac. Your first task is one copy away.
